Storing Spices and Condiments

In order to calculate the amount of spices you will need for a year’s supply, the following estimated amounts are included on this website.



Dried Herbs and Spices

  • Salt: 122 teaspoons in a 26 oz. container of salt.

  • Pepper: 38 teaspoons in a 4 oz. container of pepper.

  • Garlic Salt: 249 teaspoons in a 33 oz. container of garlic salt.

  • Garlic Powder: 38 teaspoons in a 5.37 oz. container of garlic powder.

  • Oregano: 33 teaspoons in a 1.37 oz. container of oregano.

  • Basil: 18 teaspoons in a 0.62 oz. container of basil.

  • Parsley: 18 teaspoons in a 0.25 oz. container of parsley.

  • Southwest Seasoning: 17 teaspoons in a 1.87 oz. container of Southwest seasoning.

  • Italian Seasoning: 20 teaspoons in a 0.75 oz. container of Italian seasoning.

  • Chili Powder: 40 teaspoons in a 4.5 oz. container of chili powder.

  • Cumin: 24 teaspoons in a 2 oz. bottle of cumin.

  • Taco Seasoning: 75 tablespoons in a 24 oz. container of taco seasoning.

  • Ground Mustard: 11 teaspoons in a 0.85 oz. container of ground mustard.

  • Poultry Seasoning: 10 teaspoons in a 0.65 oz. container of poultry seasoning.

  • Celery Seed: 8 teaspoons in a 0.95 oz. container of celery seed.

  • All Spice: There are 11 teaspoons in a 0.9 oz. container of all spice.

  • Bay Leaves: 30 bay leaves in a 0.16 oz container of bay leaves.

  • Ground Ginger: 11 teaspoons in a 0.8 oz. container of ground ginger.

  • Nutmeg: 10 teaspoons in a 1.10 oz. container of nutmeg.

  • Cinnamon: 138 teaspoons in a 10.7 oz. container of cinnamon.

  • Dried Onion Flakes: 168 tablespoons in a #10 can of dehydrated onion flakes.

  • Sesame Seeds: 18 tablespoons or 54 teaspoons in a 3.25 oz. jar of seeds.


Liquids and other condiments

  • White Vinegar: 62 tablespoons or 186 teaspoons in a 32 oz. jar of vinegar.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar: 32 tablespoons or 96 teaspoons in a 16 oz. jar of vinegar.

  • Soy Sauce: 19 tablespoons in a 10 oz. bottle of soy sauce.

  • Sesame Oil: 30 teaspoons in a 5 oz. bottle of oil.

  • Worcestershire Sauce: 88 teaspoons in a 15 oz. bottle.

  • Kitchen Bouquet: 24 teaspoons in a 4 oz. bottle of Kitchen Bouquet.

  • Olive Oil: Purchase Extra Virgin Olive Oil. There are 133 tablespoons in a 2 L container of oil.

  • White Sauce Mix: Whisk Bliss is now sold in some grocery stores. You can also find it in kitchen specialty stores. 48 (1/4 cup servings) in a package. This makes 48 cups of white sauce.

  • Chili Paste: Found in the Asian section of the grocery store. 45 teaspoons in an 8 oz. container of chili paste.

  • Liquid Smoke: 21 teaspoons in a 3.5 oz. bottle of liquid smoke. This is located in the spice section of the grocery store.

  • Chicken Bouillon: 266 teaspoons in a 29 oz. can of dehydrated chicken bouillon. (Purchase chicken bouillon that does not have monosodium glutamate.)

  • Beef Bouillon: 28 teaspoons in a 4 oz. jar of bouillon. (Purchase beef bouillon that does not have monosodium glutamate.)
